Thank you for visiting our website! The Gunston Elementary PTA is dedicated to helping our Eagles soar. Like our county, state, and national PTA counterparts, we work to strengthen our family units, schools, and communities through parent/family involvement. We want to bring families and our school together to foster a school community that is inclusive of ALL our Eagles. We are focused on advocating for priorities that will help our Eagles soar in all facets of their lives. We are engaged in all types of activities and are dedicated to helping each of our Eagles succeed. What are some of the ways that we do this?
- School and community events. We organize events that will support our students and their families, building the strong support system that is necessary to put our Eagles on the path to success. We are active at the school helping out wherever we’re needed to ensure our teachers and school staff can focus on teaching and running the school smoothly.
- PTA meetings. We will have monthly PTA meetings where we look forward to updating members on the business of the PTA as well as our upcoming events. We plan to provide food at our meetings so you won't have to juggle dinner, and kids are always welcome! In addition to our monthly business recaps and updates, we hope to focus on different topics at our meetings that will benefit our members and further our mission of helping our Eagles to soar!
- Fundraising. The PTA sponsors a number of fundraisers during the year aimed at raising money for items that will further our mission of helping our Gunston Eagles soar. PTA contributes funding for things like:
- School supplies teachers would otherwise fund out of their own pockets
- Field Trip Buses
- Special priorities
- Reading program
- Breakfast with Buddies (e.g. Muffins with Moms and Donuts with Dads)
- Homework planners for every student
- Teacher Classroom items
- Field Day activities
- Staff/Teacher Appreciation events
- Back to School activities
- School-Wide assemblies
- Snacks for after school programs
- STEM Night and Science Fair
- Pohick Tutoring
- School play
- Family outings
- Recognition of Student achievements
- And Much More!

Being active in the PTA benefits your child:

Second, COME TO OUR MEEETINGS AND EVENTS! While every meeting will have a short business segment to keep you up to date on our activity, we are also working to have programs at certain meetings that will benefit you and your children. We also have a number of events during the year for our Eagle community.
Third, VOLUNTEER! We need all the help we can get. Without volunteers, nothing that we offer will succeed. We need you, your voice, your participation, your ideas, and your special talents, to help our Eagles soar. We are here for your students and we want your suggestions on how best to serve them!
Fourth, CONTRIBUTE! Whether you come to a fundraiser, donate cash or in-kind to support an event or even add a little extra when you become a member, or whether you simply generate donations through free daily activities (check out our Easy Fundraising flier), we can’t provide any of the events we do without funding. Any amount is greatly appreciated!!
